The watch shape takes its cues from the original Seiko Alpinist, first launched in 1959 for Japanese Yama-otoko mountain men, to be reliable in treacherous terrain.
Benefiting from over 140 years of Seikos watchmaking expertise, this watch is powered effortlessly by the caliber 6R35 and is a higher grade inhouse manufacture mechanical movement. Beating at a frequency of 21,600vph, it will provide superior timekeeping accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day with an extended 70 hour power reserve. Besides offering convenient hacking seconds function for the re-setting of ultra accurate seconds time, this caliber is automatic and will re-charge the mainspring with your movement and is also conveniently hand windable with quick date correction. Peace of mind is provided from magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m (60 gauss) and with Seikos Diashock shock protection system. Equipped with an ultra-scratch resistant curved sapphire crystal, it also has an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface to help showcase more clearly the highly detailed dial. A solid screw-down crown and screw in display case back ensure for superlative levels of dependability and performance.
The case is highly polished, sealed and tested for a water resistance of 200m and has a glass exhibition style case back that proudly reveals the movement within and is secured to a hard-wearing NATO style strap with an attractive two-tone complementary colour scheme, the buckle is a stainless steel Seiko branded pin buckle.
A grain texture style dial is presented in a distinctive shade of brown, consisting of a combination of golden Arabic numerals and arrow hour markers. A date-window display replaces the 3 oclock marker. The centre of the dial is occupied by a cathedral style handset, providing the watch with a traditional workman like feel. Luminous hands and luminous outer dial markers along the minute track allow for readability in times of low light.
This Alpinist collection is part of the Prospex series and is a combination of the words 'Professional' and 'Specifications.' Seiko Prospex watches are designed for sports lovers and adventure seekers in the water, in the sky or on land and since launching Japans first divers watch in 1965, Seikos innovative watchmaking has changed global dive watch standards.
Clearly built to last and backed by Seikos trusted global service centre network with a 2 year guarantee, this watch will provide a lifetime of reliable service and pleasure for the owner.
